On March 15, 1990 Dynamo finished their 36-year drought.
Mid-season head coach Vladimir Yurzinov return to Moscow from Riga. Dynamo did not start well and in the middle November our team was only fourth in the standings. The game against Spartak Moscow became a ‘gold’ for Dynamo.
It will not be right not to mention that before the season our players started to move overseas to NHL. CSKA who won most of Soviet Championship since 1946 lost the full first line. Khimik Voskresensk was close to become the first ever non-Moscow champion but after the first part of the championship they fall in standings. Blue-Whites used this chance to grab the title.
In 1990 Dynamo became a real power in Soviet hockey.
