After seven years Dynamo finally returned the championship title under head coach Arkady Chernyshyov. Blue-Whites finished the first round of the tournament with eight wins in eight games. On January 12, 1954 Dynamo defeated Zenit Moscow (in future Krylya Sovetov Moscow) to clinch the title beforehand.
Yury Krylov – Alexander Uvarov – Valentin Kuzin was the most productive line for our team. Overall, they scored 53 goals. Krylov (16 games, 14 goals) was very fast player with hard and quick shot. Uvarov (16, 24) was a real playmaker and professor. Kuzin (14, 15) came from bandy and had the best speed in Soviet hockey this time. Coach Chernyshyov was able to create very efficient lines.
The most games among goalies were played by Estonian Karl Liiv (10 games).
Later in 1954 soviet players made a debut at World Championships where they grabbed gold medals. Krylov – Uvarov – Kuzin line was productive their too.
After that success Dynamo fans waited another triumph for 36 years.
