Revenge in St. Petes

In the third matchup against Dynamo finally defeated SKA.

Newcomer defenseman Brennan Menell debuted for our team in the third battle against SKA, he was paired with Kirill Gotoves. Also, Andrei Nikonov returned to the lineup.

SKA started the game better; they had a couple of chances. In the end of the period our ex-player Andrei Pedan opened the scoreboard, however officials whistled before the puck went in. After review they announced that Damir Zhafyarov scored for SKA few seconds earlier Pedan’s goal.

In the second we’ve played very decent hockey. SKA started to visit penalty box and Eric O’Dell at the breakaway during powerplay tied the game. Later it was very nervous games with limited chances to score. It went to overtime and then to shootout series where Dmitry Rashevsky gave us the first win against Army team in the season and stopped their tremendous a 9-game winning streak.

36 seconds are enough for a W

Dynamo Moscow got two points from a clash in Cherepovets.

The games against Severstal became real rivalries after two straight matchups at first round of KHL Playoffs. Maxim Sushko replaced in the lineup Andrei Nikonov for tonight’s game.

Dynamo started the game more active and had a few chances. Also, Severstal created in offense making our players to play very desperate in own end. We killed another opponent’s powerplay at the start of the second to period and later decided the game.

Nikita Buruyanov opened the scoreboard after a nice feed from Vladislav Kodola, 36 seconds later 26-years old Maxim Dzhioshvili scored his first KHL goal to double our lead. Severstal played till the very end.

They pulled the goalie in the middle of the third period and cut our lead with 4:41 to play in the game. Happily, Ivan Igumnov killed their hopes for a comeback with an empty-netter at the start of the last minute of the game.
