Nightmare in Helsinki

Dynamo suffered a huge loss in Helsinki

After goal parade in Riga where we found a way to win with 7-6 OT score it seemed that it would be hard again to repeat that kind of game. However this game was for the third place in Western conference that could avoid meeting with Spartak Moscow in first round. Jokerit put Antti Niemi in the net, who did not have a good season in KHL.

We started well, Vadim Shipachyov did not use his real chance. On the 12th minute Saku Maenalanen deflected the puck after Mikko Lehtonen’s shot from the blue line. With 3 minutes left to play in the first period Shipachyov finally scored. Jokerit challenged this episode on the offside and was right. At 19:56 in the game Henrik Haapala made it 2-0 burying the rebound.

We needed to play more aggressively in the next period however it led to disaster. Jokerit scored three more unanswered goals, our players got disciplinary penalties. Jokerit did not dominate on the ice, they just used their chances. Nothing important happened in the third period, Dynamo lost another game to Jokerit in this season.

We’ll finish our road trip in Cherepovets on Wednesday night.
